Guidelines for Student Final Research Papers
Spring 2017
 
The final draft is worth up to 60 total points.  You will be evaluated on the following criteria: (a) content; (b) relevance to course concepts and themes; (c) organization of your content; (d) professional mechanics and writing style.
 
Specific guidelines:
Length

• Must be a minimum of 8-10 pages of text, not including the title page, appendix, or bibliography. All tables and figures should be placed in the Appendix.
• All pages should be double-spaced and should use 1 inch margins

 
Page numbering

• Must be consecutive and consistent using either the top right corner or bottom of page, should include your last name and the page number

 
Type

• 12 point font using Times New Roman front

 
Page Ordering – Please make sure your pages are in a single file in this order!

• Title page, with original title and student name
• Body of Text
  • Recommended subheadings: Introduction; Literature Review; Theory; Research Design; Empirical Results; Conclusion
• Works Cited or Bibliography
• Appendices (for charts, graphs, and images)

 
Citations

• You must have a minimum of five peer-reviewed sources, not including your textbook. All sources, including literature review and data, must be cited in your paper.  You may not use Wikipedia or other online encyclopedias.
• Use a standard style of your choice, such as: MLA, APA, Chicago.
• Must be consistent throughout text.
• All citations in the text must be listed in the bibliography

 
File Format

• Papers must be submitted in a single file. Do not submit multiple files.  Pages should be ordered as listed above in a single file.
• All files must be in PDF or doc format. Any unreadable files will not be graded.
