Current Issues and Their Effects on Families

• Review this week’s Learning Resources.

• Reflect on the ways that the issues discussed may affect various members of families who enter counseling.

• Review the DVD segment “Issues Related to Couples and Families,” with Drs. Pete and Linda Palmo. Consider the potential issues that emerge for families who are undergoing or have experienced divorce and/or separation. Link to video: https://class.waldenu.edu/webapps/blackboard/conte…

• Perform an academic search in the Walden Library and select two scholarly articles published in peer-reviewed journals in the last five years that each examines a different issue affecting families who may enter the counseling setting and that discuss potential effects on the members of a family.

• Think about the similarities and differences in how these issues may affect families, as well as how the effects may compare to the potential effects of other issues.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 4 an analysis of two issues (abuse, addiction, divorce, etc.) affecting families. Compare the ways that each issue could potentially impact the family, using the articles you selected to support your evaluation.
